Exploring Cornwall Vibes on the East Coast?

Hi everyone! I’m absolutely in love with the stunning photos of Cornwall—those blue waters, lush greenery, picturesque walking routes, and that overall holiday vibe. However, since I’ll be landing in London for a getaway in June or July, traveling all the way to Cornwall by bus or train feels a bit much.

I’ve considered Dorset, but I’m concerned about transportation options there. Is there a town in the area that would serve as a good base for day hikes? Alternatively, are there any spots in the east worth exploring? I’ve already visited Bath, the Cotswolds, and the Isle of Portland, all of which I adored for their scenic trails, charming villages, and historic castles.

I’m open to staying a few nights in one location and then moving on to another. I’ve been poring over maps for ages, and it’s making my head spin! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  1. It sounds like you’re looking for that perfect blend of beautiful landscapes and charming towns! If you’re thinking about Dorset, I’d recommend staying in either Weymouth or Bournemouth as your base. Weymouth has a lovely beach and easy access to the stunning Jurassic Coast, where you can find fantastic walking trails. Plus, it’s well-connected by public transport.

Bournemouth is another great option with its vibrant atmosphere, beautiful gardens, and beach, plus you’re just a short bus ride away from the New Forest for more walking opportunities.

If you’re open to heading east, consider exploring Suffolk or Norfolk. Places like Southwold or Aldeburgh in Suffolk are picturesque and have great coastline walks. For a mix of historic towns and scenic trails, Norwich is also lovely, and you can easily visit the Broads National Park from there.

For your trip in June or July, you could plan to stay a few nights in one place, then move to another for more exploration. Aim for a balance between sightseeing and relaxation, and you’ll have a fantastic time! Happy planning!
