Train ticket issues from Stansted

Train Ticket Dilemma from Stansted

Hello everyone! My girlfriend is flying into Stansted from Cologne on Wednesday morning, and I bought her train tickets to Southampton—however, they require physical tickets. Unfortunately, I can’t make it to the airport because of budget and timing constraints (university life), so I sent her the reference number. I just discovered that she needs the card I used to purchase the tickets in order to collect them! This has become a real challenge, as I can’t afford to make a costly trip just for this. Is there any way for her to print the tickets? Thanks for your help!

  1. Hi! That does sound like a tricky situation. If the tickets were purchased online, she might be able to collect them using an app or self-service machine at the station, but it usually does require the card used for the purchase.

You could also check if the train company allows for digital ticketing or if they can issue e-tickets. Sometimes, customer service can help if you explain the situation, especially if you can provide proof of purchase.

Another option would be to see if you can get a refund on the tickets and repurchase them, this time opting for a method that doesn’t require physical collection, like e-tickets.

Lastly, if nothing else works, consider reaching out to a friend or someone who could possibly pick up the tickets for her using your card. Good luck!
