London -> Windsor -> Oxford

I’m planning a trip to London in late September and we’d like to spend a night or two in Oxford afterward. I’m considering taking the train from Waterloo to Windsor to explore the castle, then continuing on to Oxford. Does this route make sense in terms of train connections? I’ve heard we might need a third-party app to help with luggage storage while we’re touring Windsor. I’d appreciate any insights on how feasible this itinerary is. Thanks in advance!

  1. Your itinerary sounds like a great way to see Windsor and Oxford! Traveling from London to Windsor and then to Oxford is definitely feasible. Here’s a breakdown of your plan:

    1. London to Windsor: You would typically take a train from London Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Central. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive, you can easily walk to Windsor Castle, which is one of the main attractions in the area.

    2. Touring Windsor: After exploring the castle and the town, you can head back to the train station to catch your train to Oxford.

    3. Windsor to Oxford: From Windsor, the most straightforward route to Oxford would be to first return to London (Waterloo) and then transfer to a train heading to Oxford. Alternatively, you can check if there are any direct services; however, typically, a change is required in London.

    Regarding luggage storage, you’re correct that using a third-party app or service might be helpful. There are options available in Windsor where you can securely store your bags while you tour the castle.

    Overall, your plan is logistically sound, and it should be a delightful experience! Just make sure to check the train schedules for your planned travel dates, as they can vary. Enjoy your trip!
