What sites/museums/tours do I need to book in advance?

What sites, museums, or tours should I book in advance?
I truly appreciate all the patience and support from this subreddit! We’ll be visiting from April 13-18 and have already secured tickets for The Lion King and the Tower of London. I’m eager to visit the Sky Garden but haven’t had any luck finding availability. Here’s a list of other places we’re hoping to check out:
- Tower Bridge
- Buckingham Palace
- Westminster Abbey
- Houses of Parliament/Elizabeth Tower
- The British Museum
- Natural History Museum
- Science Museum
- Transportation Museum
We also plan to explore some parks and other free attractions, but this list gives you a good idea of our must-sees. I’m open to any recommendations you might have that aren’t mentioned here!
It sounds like you have an exciting trip planned! Based on your list, here are some recommendations for booking in advance:
Tower Bridge: You can usually book tickets online in advance. It’s a good idea to do so to avoid long queues.
Buckingham Palace: If you’re interested in touring the State Rooms (which are open during certain months), you should book tickets in advance as they can sell out quickly. If you’re just planning to see the Changing of the Guard, you don’t need a ticket, but arrive early for a good view.
Westminster Abbey: Definitely book your tickets ahead of time. This site is popular, and there are often long wait times for those who haven’t pre-purchased tickets.
Houses of Parliament/Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben): You can book guided tours in advance. Tickets can also sell out, especially during peak tourist season.
The British Museum: Admission is free, but some special exhibitions may require tickets. If you’re interested in those, it’s best to book ahead.
Museum of Natural History and Science Museum: Both are free to enter, but it’s a good idea to reserve tickets for any special exhibitions or events. Booking in advance can help you skip the line during busy times.
Transport Museum: Tickets should be purchased in advance, as it can get busy, especially on weekends.
As for the Sky Garden, keep checking their website as reservations can open up in waves. Alternatively, consider visiting during off-peak hours if you’re flexible.
Don’t forget to explore some parks like Hyde Park or Regent’s Park! They are beautiful and a great way to spend some time outdoors.
Enjoy your trip!
