Booking museums in London?

Planning to visit museums in London?
Hello everyone,
I’ll be in London with my family during Easter, and while I’m aware it will be quite busy, it’s the only time we could make our trip happen.
Do you recommend booking tickets for any of the museums in advance to skip the long lines?
We definitely want to check out the V&A, National Gallery, British Museum, Tate, and Courtauld Gallery, along with the Mithraeum. We’re also considering the Design Museum, Guildhall Art Gallery, Hunterian Museum, Museum of the Home, Wellcome Collection, and Young V&A.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi there!
Easter is indeed a busy time in London, so it’s a great idea to consider booking ahead for museums to help avoid long lines. Here’s a quick rundown:
V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum): Free entry, but it’s best to book tickets for special exhibitions in advance.
National Gallery: Free entry as well, but there might be queues. It’s recommended to check if they have any special exhibitions that require booking.
British Museum: Always busy! While general entry is free, it’s a good idea to book a timed ticket in advance to avoid long wait times.
Tate Modern/Tate Britain: While entry is free, timed tickets can help minimize waiting for entry, especially if there are special exhibitions on.
Courtauld Gallery: It’s smaller and can get crowded, so booking ahead is advisable.
Mithraeum: It requires a timed ticket, so definitely book in advance!
Design Museum: Tickets should be booked ahead, especially for special exhibitions.
Guildhall Art Gallery: Usually less crowded, but check in case they have special events.
Hunterian Museum: Advance booking is recommended, especially if there are limited entry slots.
Museum of the Home: It’s wise to book in advance to ensure you get tickets during busy periods.
Wellcome Collection: Entry is free but can be busy, so pre-booking is a good idea.
Young V&A: A great spot for families! It’s a new museum, so check their site for ticketing info—booking is probably a good idea.
Overall, booking in advance will enhance your experience and allow you to enjoy more of your time exploring the exhibitions rather than waiting in line. Enjoy your trip to London with your family!
