Visitor in Transit visa question

Question About Visitor in Transit Visa
Hi everyone,
My girlfriend and I are gearing up for a trip to Europe this summer. As huge Manchester United fans, we’re excited to include a brief stop in Manchester—just for a couple of days, no more than 48 hours.
Since my girlfriend requires a visa and I only need to apply for an ETA, we’re curious about the requirements for the Visitor in Transit visa. Do we need to meet all the criteria listed in the screenshot above, or is it acceptable for us to stay for less than 48 hours without issues? Just to clarify, we’re not using the UK as a layover for a connecting flight.
Thanks for your help!
Hi there!
That sounds like an exciting trip! Regarding your question, since your girlfriend needs a Visitor in Transit visa for the UK, she will need to meet all the criteria outlined in the requirements for that visa, regardless of the duration of the stay. The 48-hour stay doesn’t exempt her from having to fulfill those requirements.
However, if you’re not transiting through the UK (as you’re planning to spend time in Manchester), a Visitor visa might actually be more appropriate for her, depending on your plans. It might be beneficial to look into the Visitor Visa for a short stay instead, as it would allow her to stay and enjoy the sights like a proper tourist!
Make sure to check the latest guidelines on the UK government website or consult with a travel expert to ensure you’re both set for your trip. Enjoy your travels and the match!
