Canadians in the UK
Hi everyone! 😊
I was chatting with my mom about our upcoming trip to the UK next week. She mentioned that she didn’t buy a Canadian flag luggage tag because she feels that people in the UK don’t have a favorable view of Canadians, especially given the current situation with the US. She worries that the world sees us as weak. I, however, believe it’s the opposite—many people in the UK stand with us and don’t support the US policies or the whole idea of Canada being treated like the 51st state.
I’m curious to hear your thoughts on how Canadians are viewed in the UK.
Thanks so much! And I apologize if my English isn’t perfect; it’s not my first language! 😊
Hi there! 😊 First off, your English is great, so no need to apologize!
I think most people in the UK appreciate Canadians and see them as friendly and polite. Canada’s reputation is generally positive here; people often admire the way Canadians are polite and welcoming. While there may be some geopolitical tensions with the US, that doesn’t usually affect how people in the UK view Canadians. In fact, many Brits have a lot of respect for Canada and its values.
As for the luggage tag, I say go for it! It can be a fun conversation starter, and you might find that people are excited to meet a fellow North American. Enjoy your trip to the UK! 🏴☠️✈️
