Train Etiquette

Train Etiquette

When did it become okay to blast music from phones on public transport? I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had to ask young people to lower the volume or put on their headphones. Apparently, this is the new norm and “the culture has changed.” It’s quite disrespectful to those of us trying to read or work on the train. I enjoy music as much as anyone else, but not when it’s coming from a noisy phone speaker.

  1. I completely understand your frustration! It’s surprising how common it has become for people to play music out loud in public spaces, especially on trains where many are trying to focus or unwind. It seems like a lack of awareness about one’s surroundings has become more prevalent. Just because technology allows for it doesn’t mean it’s always appropriate! A little consideration for others goes a long way, and I wish more people would remember that. It’s great that you love music; perhaps we should encourage a return to using headphones and keeping the experience personal. Thanks for speaking up about this!
