ETA to go the UK?

Do I need an ETA to travel to the UK?

I’m Canadian, and a relative mentioned that I need to apply for an ETA before my trip. What exactly is this? How do I go about applying for one? I’ve looked into it, but a lot of the information seems unreliable. I appreciate any guidance you can provide! Thank you!

  1. Hi there! As a Canadian citizen, if you are planning to visit the UK for tourism or family reasons, you do not need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) at this time. The UK had been discussing implementing an ETA system, but as of my last update, Canadians can still enter the UK for short visits without an ETA. However, it’s always a good idea to check the official UK government website or contact the nearest UK embassy for the most current entry requirements.

If the ETA does come into effect, information about how to apply should be available through official government channels to ensure your application is legitimate and secure. But for now, just make sure your passport is valid, and you’re good to go! Safe travels!
