London to LHR for 6am flight on a Saturday morning

Traveling to LHR for a 6 AM Flight on Saturday Morning

Hi everyone,

I’m considering booking a 6 AM flight from LHR Terminal 5 on a Saturday and wanted to look into public transportation options before finalizing my plans.

I discovered that National Express coaches leave from Victoria approximately every hour, with the first one at 3:30 AM.

Additionally, I checked the TFL website and Google Maps, and they both indicate that the Piccadilly Line operates throughout the night, running every 15 minutes in the early morning. However, it seems like this may only apply to late Friday night into early Saturday morning, which seems a bit unusual but possibly accurate.

Has anyone experienced this? Is it reliable and safe?

Using public transport would be an excellent option for me, as it would allow me to choose a hotel anywhere along the Piccadilly Line for my early flight.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

  1. Taking public transportation for a 6am flight from Heathrow (LHR) can be a bit tricky, but it’s definitely manageable! Here’s some information based on your options:

    1. National Express Coaches: The coaches from Victoria do have early departures, including around 3:30am. This option is convenient, and it would take about 1 hour to reach the airport. Just make sure to check the schedule closer to your date, as availability can sometimes change.

    2. Piccadilly Line: You’re right that the Piccadilly Line runs all night on Fridays into Saturday mornings, with services every 15 minutes. This option could work well if you’re staying near a station on that line. Depending on the location of your hotel, factor in your travel time to get to a station and then the ride to airport (about 50 minutes total).

    3. Advisability: Both options are safe and well-used by travelers. Just be mindful of the time you need to allow for check-in and security at the airport—arriving 2-3 hours before your flight is recommended.

In summary, both the National Express coach and the Piccadilly Line are viable options for your early morning flight. If convenience and flexibility are key for you, staying near the Piccadilly Line could indeed open up more hotel choices. Safe travels!
