Question about the tube, specifically Paddington, St Pancras, and KGX

Tube Question: Paddington, St Pancras, and King’s Cross

Hi everyone! I’m flying into London Heathrow in a couple of weeks and have managed to snag discounted tickets for the Heathrow Express for the day of my arrival. I’m fairly confident I can find my way to the line from the airport. However, I’m a bit unclear about the layout for transferring at Paddington to the Tube to get to King’s Cross St Pancras.

Are the Tube entrances for the Hammersmith and Circle lines easy to find once I arrive at Paddington? Also, upon reaching St Pancras, is King’s Cross rail station located in the same building or just across the street? I appreciate any guidance you can provide—I’ve traveled on European trains before, but this will be my first experience with the underground! Thanks!

  1. No problem at all! I’m happy to help.

When you arrive at Paddington Station via the Heathrow Express, the tube station entrances are indeed well marked and relatively close. Upon exiting the Heathrow Express, you should look for signs indicating the Tube. The entrances for the Hammersmith & City and Circle lines are located near the main concourse, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding them.

As for your second question, King’s Cross St Pancras and the National Rail services at King’s Cross are in close proximity, but they are separate stations. King’s Cross is directly across the street from St Pancras International. It’s just a short walk (about 5 minutes) between the two. You might want to keep an eye out for signs directing you to King’s Cross as you exit the St Pancras station.

Feel free to ask if you have more questions about your journey! Safe travels!
