Visiting in June, what to do outside of London?

Suggestions for Exploring Beyond London in June
Hello everyone! I’m planning a two-week trip with two companions, spending about 5 to 7 days in London. We’ll then head north to visit family in Birmingham for a couple of days, and we might venture as far as York before making our way back.
While I have plenty of ideas for London, I’m looking for recommendations for the journey north. I’d love to know what the must-see spots are—whether they’re historical sites or contemporary attractions.
Also, just a note: I’ll have access to a car for this part of the trip. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
