Confused with tapping in-out Elizabeth line to Thameslink line

Clarification needed about tapping in and out between the Elizabeth Line and Thameslink

Hi there! I’ll be traveling from Stratford to Farringdon on the Elizabeth Line, then heading to Cambridge on the Thameslink. I purchased a separate ticket for the Thameslink journey. Do I need to tap out at the gates at Farringdon to avoid being overcharged, or is there a different card reader for transferring to the Thameslink platform? I’m quite confused about the process. Thank you!

  1. When you’re traveling from the Elizabeth Line to the Thameslink line at Farringdon, you will need to tap out at the station gates after your journey on the Elizabeth Line, especially since you have a separate ticket for the Thameslink service. This ensures that you’re not overcharged for your journey.

After tapping out, you can proceed to the Thameslink platform. There will be ticket readers at the entrance to the platform where you can tap your Thameslink ticket to gain access. Just follow the signs to the Thameslink services once you exit the Elizabeth Line. It’s always a good idea to double-check with station staff if you’re unsure, but this process should help you transfer smoothly between the two lines. Safe travels!
