Getting passport paranoia. Is this damaged or ok? I am travelling to NZ with stops in other countries on the way. The inside looks good as new.

Feeling a bit anxious about my passport. Is this damage or no big deal? I’m traveling to New Zealand with layovers in other countries, and the inside looks perfect.

  1. It’s understandable to feel paranoid about your passport, especially when traveling internationally. Based on your description, if the inside of the passport looks good as new and the only issue is with the cover, it might be okay. However, it’s best to be cautious. Here are a few things to check:

    1. RFID Chip: Ensure that the RFID chip (if your passport has one) is intact and functioning, as this can sometimes be affected by damage.

    2. Pages: Verify that all pages are in good condition—make sure there are no tears, missing pages, or water damage.

    3. Travel Dates & Visas: Check that all necessary visas and stamps are clearly visible and that the information matches your travel plans.

    4. Consult Your Airline or Embassy: If you’re still unsure, it might be a good idea to contact your airline or check with the embassy of New Zealand for guidance on passport condition requirements.

If there’s any chance you could be denied boarding or entry due to the damage, it may be worth looking into getting a replacement passport before your trip. Safe travels!
