London Premier Inn – Bankside vs Lambeth Road

London Premier Inn – Bankside vs. Lambeth Road

Hello everyone!

We’re a family of four planning a trip to London for four nights in mid-August (Monday to Friday) and we’re in the process of booking our hotel.

Originally, I intended to book either the County Hall or Waterloo Premier Inns, with Southwark Bankside as a backup. Unfortunately, both Waterloo and County Hall are fully booked for family rooms during our stay.

The Bankside location is available, and I recently discovered a relatively new Premier Inn on Lambeth Road in the greater Waterloo area.

In terms of location, the Lambeth Road hotel appears to be a bit farther from County Hall and Waterloo, which has me unsure about which option to choose.

The Waterloo area initially appealed to me due to its excellent transport links and its proximity to Covent Garden, Soho, and other attractions across the Thames. However, the Bankside hotel, while a bit further away from those areas, also offers good transport connections and is conveniently close to Borough Market.

I’m seeking input from anyone familiar with these neighborhoods. Which area do you think is nicer or better suited for families? I’m finding it tough to decide, especially since the rates for both options are similar.

Thank you in advance for your help!

  1. Hi there!

Both the Premier Inn Bankside and the Lambeth Road options have their pros and cons, so it really depends on what you prioritize during your stay.

    Premier Inn Bankside:
    Pros:
    – Closer to Borough Market, which is great for foodies!
    – Near the Tate Modern and the Globe Theatre, adding a cultural touch to your trip.
    – Good transport links, particularly with Southwark Underground nearby, making it easy to get around.
    – It’s a lively area with a mix of locals and tourists, and the waterfront nearby is great for walks.

    • Cons:
    • It might feel a little further from the main tourist attractions like Covent Garden or Soho compared to Waterloo.

    Premier Inn Lambeth Road:
    Pros:
    – While it’s a tad further, it’s still within walking distance to key attractions.
    – Proximity to attractions like the Imperial War Museum.
    – Often a quieter area, which might be preferable for some families.

    • Cons:
    • Slightly less vibrant than the Bankside area, and fewer options for dining and entertainment right at your doorstep.

In terms of overall experience, if you’re looking for a bit more buzz and easier access to tourist attractions, Bankside might be the better choice. However, if you prefer a quieter atmosphere with easy access to transport and still being close to major sites, Lambeth Road could work just fine.

If you’re planning to spend a lot of time exploring the Central London area, you might find that Bankside’s location makes it a little more convenient. But if the price and availability at Lambeth Road tempt you, it can serve as a comfortable base too. Enjoy your trip!
