London with two kids

Family Trip to London with Kids

This summer, we’ll be visiting London with our two little ones, ages 4 and 7, and we’ll be staying in Mayfair. Our energetic 4-year-old is sure to keep us on our toes!

We’re looking for fun activities that will keep the kids entertained, preferably with a focus on London’s rich history and culture.

So far, we have the following on our itinerary:
– Transport Museum
– Terrible Thames boat tour
– Harrods
– Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace
– Double Decker bus tours
– Peppa Pig World (both kids are big fans!)

Are there any must-see spots or additional recommendations you would suggest? I would greatly appreciate any tips or insights! Thank you!

  1. That sounds like an exciting trip! London is full of kid-friendly activities and historic sites that will keep both your energetic 4-year-old and 7-year-old entertained. Here are some more recommendations:

    1. Natural History Museum: This museum is fascinating for kids and adults alike. The dinosaur skeletons and the interactive exhibits are sure to captivate both of your children.

    2. Science Museum: Close to the Natural History Museum, this venue has lots of interactive displays aimed at children. The Wonderlab is especially fun, with hands-on science activities.

    3. London Zoo: Situated in Regent’s Park, the zoo offers a chance to see a variety of animals. The interactive exhibits and the chance to see animals up close will be a hit with both kids.

    4. Kensington Gardens and Diana Memorial Playground: A lovely place for a picnic, and the playground is themed around Peter Pan with a wooden pirate ship that offers hours of fun.

    5. Shrek’s Adventure! London: This is a fun and interactive experience for kids where they can meet their favorite characters from the Shrek movies.

    6. London Eye: For amazing views of the city, the London Eye is a must-do. The slow rotation means there’s plenty of time to enjoy the sights and take photos.

    7. The Sea Life London Aquarium: If your kids love marine life, this is a great spot to explore. The underwater tunnel and the chance to see sharks and penguins are particularly memorable.

    8. Covent Garden: This area is not only a great shopping destination but often has street performers, musicians, and various child-friendly activities.

    9. West End Theatre Show: Consider taking the kids to a family-friendly show like “The Lion King” or “Matilda.” The energy and creativity of the performances are a delight for all ages.

    10. Windsor Castle or Hampton Court Palace: If you can manage a short trip outside of London, these are remarkable historical sites that kids might find enchanting, especially with stories of kings and queens.

    11. Explore The South Bank: Walk along the South Bank of the Thames. There are often fun street performances, pop-up events, and great views of the river. Plus, you can stop off at places like the Tate Modern for family-friendly art activities.

You have a fantastic list already, but hopefully, these suggestions will help round out your itinerary and keep your kids engaged and excited during your London adventure! Enjoy your trip!
