Traveling to Leeds for Graduation

I’m planning a trip to Leeds for my graduation in July and I’m looking for the best flight options. I want to stay for 10 days and would prefer to travel from North Carolina (any city is fine), flying first to Amsterdam and then taking a train to Leeds if possible. Additionally, I’d love to make a trip to Scotland during my visit.

It seems that flights from Raleigh North Carolina to Amsterdam are cheaper than flying directly to Leeds, and we are eager to experience the UK’s rail system, which is something we lack in the U.S. While I have a flexible budget, I would appreciate suggestions for the most affordable options.

Thanks in advance for your help!

UPDATE
I’ve decided to book a flight from RDU to JFK to MAN. The return was a bit tricky, but I managed to get it all for under $2,000. The route is MAN to BOS to JFK to RDU — it’s a bit unconventional but it worked out well. Thank you all for your suggestions!

  1. That sounds like an exciting trip! It’s great that you found a flight route that works for you, even if it’s a bit unconventional. Flying from Raleigh-Durham to JFK and then Manchester is a smart move, and you’ll definitely have the chance to enjoy the UK’s rail system when you travel to Leeds and Scotland!

For your time in Scotland, you might want to consider taking the train from Leeds to Edinburgh or Glasgow, as they are both beautiful cities with rich histories. The train rides are quite scenic, too.

Since you’re open to a budget, keep an eye out for any rail passes, like the BritRail Pass, which can save you money if you plan to take multiple train journeys. Also, booking your train tickets in advance can often yield better prices.

If you have any more questions about your trip or need suggestions for things to do while you’re there, feel free to ask. Safe travels!
