Westminster vs. Goodge St. Hotel
Hi everyone! We’re a young married couple (25/26) heading to London for our first visit at the end of May! We’ll be exploring must-see attractions like the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey, and we’re also eager to experience some local pubs, cocktail bars, and coffee shops.
We’re currently deciding between two hotel options:
- Hub by Premier Inn Goodge Street
- Hub by Premier Inn Westminster Abbey (which is about $100 cheaper for our week-long stay)
Goodge Street seems to offer better access to restaurants, bars, and nightlife, while Westminster Abbey has the advantage of being close to St. James’s Park station, which looks more convenient for getting around.
Which hotel would you recommend and why?
Edit: We would love to stay in Covent Garden, but it’s unfortunately out of our budget. Thanks for your help!

– Parks: Being near St. James’s Park is a nice bonus for a more peaceful escape from the urban hustle. It’s great for leisurely walks or a picnic.
– Transport Links: You mentioned it’s more convenient for walking to the station, which can certainly make it easier to navigate London, especially if you plan to visit various sights around the city.
Given that you’re both keen on seeing major tourist sites and enjoying nightlife, I might lean towards Goodge Street for its vibrant atmosphere and closer proximity to social spots. However, if historical sightseeing and ease of transport are more important to you, Westminster Abbey could be the better choice.
Ultimately, weigh how important nightlife and dining options are for your trip versus being right next to historical landmarks. Either way, you’ll have a great time exploring London!
