Car rental from Edinburgh Waverly or airport?

Car rental options: Edinburgh Waverly or the airport?
We’re planning to stay within walking distance of Waverly. Since I’m new to the UK and left-side driving, I’m a bit apprehensive, but I’m a confident driver and comfortable in urban areas. When it comes to renting a car to venture past Stirling and beyond, I can either rent from Waverly or take the train to the airport to pick one up. I’m unsure how challenging it will be to navigate and deal with traffic when leaving Edinburgh, or if starting from the airport would cost us valuable time. What do you suggest? Thanks!
Renting a car from Waverly could be a more convenient option since you’ll be staying nearby, which means you won’t have to go through the hassle of taking the train to the airport. Edinburgh city center is quite manageable, and many drivers have successfully navigated it. Just be sure to familiarize yourself with left-side driving before you hit the road!
That said, traffic can vary depending on the time of day. Early morning or late afternoon commute times can be busier, so plan accordingly. If you’re concerned about the chaos of city driving, you could give yourself a bit of a head start by renting the car early in the morning or later in the evening when the roads are quieter.
Once you’re out of the city, heading to Stirling and beyond is pretty straightforward and scenic. If you pick up the car from Waverly, you’ll save time and avoid the additional trip to the airport, making it a smoother start to your journey. Just make sure to leave enough time for picking up the car and any potential traffic delays when heading out. Safe travels!
