Football: Fun L2 or non league team around London?

Football: Looking for Local L2 or Non-League Teams in London!

Hey everyone! I’m thrilled to be visiting England for the first time in 17 years. As a huge football fan, I’ll be catching my beloved Bees in away action at Newcastle and at home against Chelsea.

I have the afternoon and evening of April 5 free, and since I’ll be attending two Premier League matches, I’d love to check out a game at a smaller ground that’s easily accessible by tube or rail.

What are some fun teams to watch? I noticed Wealdstone is playing Forest Green and seems straightforward to reach. Hanwell Town is also at home, though they’re a bit lower in the league. Wimbledon has a match against Harrogate Town, and Sutton, Bromley, and Leyton Orient are hosting games as well.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations for matches, along with nearby pubs and restaurants! Thanks a lot!

  1. That sounds like a fantastic trip! If you’re looking for an enjoyable non-league experience in London, I’d recommend checking out Wealdstone. The club has a great community vibe and their matches are always an entertaining watch. Plus, it’s relatively easy to get to from central London. The ground has a friendly atmosphere, and you’ll enjoy the camaraderie with the locals.

Pubs: Right near Wealdstone, you can visit The Crown which offers a good selection of beers and a welcoming environment for football fans. Another great spot is The Harrow, where you can grab a bite before or after the match.

Hanwell Town is also an option if you want a smaller crowd and an intimate feel. They have a charming little ground and the atmosphere is usually quite cozy. The Hanwell Town Social Club nearby is a nice place to relax.

If you’re open to exploring a bit, Leyton Orient is another club with a rich history and a lovely ground. The The Spotted Dog nearby is a popular pub that serves great food and has a friendly atmosphere for fans.

Overall, you’ll find that smaller clubs have a unique charm and are often more approachable than the bigger teams. Enjoy your trip and the football!
