Gatwick Transfer – Is 1.5 Hours Enough?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice from those who know Gatwick well.

Is 1.5 hours enough time between when we land and our next flight departs? We’ll need to collect our baggage, check it in, and switch from the South Terminal to the North Terminal. The connecting flight is domestic.

It’s a bit of a hassle since easyJet moved our flight to Inverness up by an hour. Thanks for any insights!

  1. 1.5 hours at Gatwick can be tight, but it is possible if everything goes smoothly. Here are some things to consider:

    1. Baggage Claim: Depending on how busy it is, collecting your baggage could take anywhere from a few minutes to 30 minutes or more.

    2. Terminal Transfer: The transfer between the South and North terminals is fairly quick, usually around 10-15 minutes with the Gatwick Airport Shuttle service. Make sure to account for waiting times as buses can be frequent.

    3. Check-in Time: Since your next flight is domestic, you generally need to check in at least 30 minutes before departure. Some airlines recommend arriving earlier, so check easyJet’s specific requirements.

    4. Security Check: Factor in the time needed for security checks, which can vary depending on passenger volume.

To maximize your time, try to sit towards the front of the aircraft on your inbound flight, so you can get off quickly. Keep an eye on the time, and if you’re concerned, let the staff know that you have a tight connection—they may be able to assist you.

While it may be a bit of a rush, many passengers manage to make similar connections. Good luck!
