Yorkshire questions

Questions about Yorkshire

I had previously mentioned that my wife and I are spending a week in Yorkshire in early May. It just crossed my mind that some tourist attractions, like castles, might be closed on Sundays. Is that common? Also, how likely is it that we’ll need to make reservations or plan ahead for restaurants and attractions during May? We were excited to dine at the Tan Hill Inn, but I’ve come across some pretty negative reviews, and the need for reservations could be tricky since we’re unsure of our arrival time. Could anyone recommend another dining option between Buttertubs Pass and Richmond that we might enjoy instead?

  1. It’s great to hear you and your wife are headed to Yorkshire! Regarding your questions:

    1. Sunday Closures: While many attractions remain open on Sundays, some smaller places or local independent businesses might have limited hours or could be closed. It’s always a good idea to check the specific websites or call ahead to confirm, especially for castles or historical sites, as they can have varying schedules.

    2. Reservations for Restaurants/Attractions: In early May, which is a popular time for visitors, especially around the Bank Holiday weekends, it can be wise to make reservations for popular restaurants and major attractions. While larger attractions might not require tickets in advance, some smaller or highly-rated restaurants might benefit from a reservation to ensure you get a table.

    3. Food Venues Near Buttertubs Pass and Richmond: If you’re looking for alternative dining options to Tan Hill Inn, consider these places:

    4. The Farmers Arms in Muker: A cozy pub with excellent local food.
    5. The Kings Head in Richmond: Offers a nice atmosphere and varied menu options.
    6. The Fox and Hounds in West Witton: A charming spot with good food and a friendly vibe.

Whatever you choose, be sure to enjoy the stunning scenery Yorkshire has to offer! Have a fantastic trip!
