Itinerary Suggestions
Hello! I’m seeking recommendations for the final leg of my trip to Scotland from February 5th to 27th, 2026. Here’s my travel schedule, which includes the 23rd, when I’ll be in Newcastle Upon Tyne, making my way back to Scotland. I would love suggestions for places to visit on the 24th, 25th, and 26th, as I prefer to avoid Edinburgh since I’ll have explored everything I want to there. I’m particularly interested in nature and historical sites such as castles and other landmarks. Thank you in advance for your help!
That sounds like a fantastic trip! Here are some suggestions for your last few days in Scotland that focus on nature and historical sites outside of Edinburgh:
24th February: St. Andrews & The Kingdom of Fife
– St. Andrews: Visit the historic town of St. Andrews, known for its university and beautiful beaches. Don’t miss the ruins of St. Andrews Cathedral and St. Andrews Castle. You can also enjoy a stroll along West Sands Beach.
– Fife Coastal Path: If you enjoy walking, consider exploring a section of the Fife Coastal Path for stunning sea views.
25th February: Inverness & Loch Ness
– Inverness: Head north to Inverness, the capital of the Highlands. Explore the charming city center and visit Inverness Castle.
– Loch Ness: Take a day trip to Loch Ness. You can go on a boat tour to try and spot Nessie, or visit Urquhart Castle, which offers spectacular views of the loch.
26th February: Stirling
– Stirling: On your last full day, consider visiting Stirling. Explore Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s most important historical sites. The views from the castle are breathtaking.
– Wallace Monument: If time allows, visit the Wallace Monument to learn about Scotland’s national hero, William Wallace, and enjoy a panoramic view from the top.
These suggestions should give you a nice mix of history and nature as you round off your trip! Safe travels!
