Where to Stay in Edinburgh, Old Town or New Town?
Deciding Between Old Town and New Town in Edinburgh
Hello everyone! I’ll be in Edinburgh for five nights this June, and I’m torn between staying in the Old Town or the New Town.
I’m a fan of history, charming pubs, and walking everywhere, but I also appreciate having a variety of good dining options and a quieter atmosphere at night.
Does anyone have a favorite between the two areas? I would love any hotel or Airbnb suggestions, especially if they offer a stunning view! Thanks in advance!
Both Old Town and New Town in Edinburgh have their unique charms, so it really depends on what you’re looking for during your stay!
Old Town is rich in history, with its medieval streets, the iconic Edinburgh Castle, and impressive architecture all around. You’ll find plenty of cozy pubs, small shops, and historical sites within walking distance. It can get a bit lively at night, especially near the Royal Mile, but there are quieter streets if you look for accommodations a bit off the main thoroughfares.

– For something with a view, consider Radisson Blu Hotel, which overlooks the Castle.
New Town offers a mix of history and modernity, with beautiful Georgian architecture and lovely gardens. It is slightly less chaotic than the Old Town, which might be more in line with your preference for a quieter stay. New Town also has fantastic dining options and trendy bars.
