From Luton Airport to London Victoria Coach Station

Traveling from Luton Airport to London Victoria Coach Station

Hello everyone!

Before I dive in, I want to clarify a few things:
– English isn’t my first language, so please bear with me if there are any errors.
– I come from a small town that doesn’t have much public transportation, so I may ask about things that might seem obvious to you.
– I’m on a strict budget and need to save as much money as possible, even if it’s just a little.

In April, I will be arriving at Luton Airport at 11:20 AM (if all goes well) and need to catch a bus to London Victoria Coach Station at 3:30 PM. The most affordable option I’ve found is to take East Midlands Railway from the airport to London St Pancras International and then walk approximately 6 km to Victoria. I’ll only be bringing a backpack as my hand luggage.

I have a few questions:
1. Can I reach Luton Parkway Rail Station by walking, or do I need to take the Luton Dart?
2. If I skip the Luton Dart, will I save money, or is the cost included in my ticket to St Pancras International?
3. Based on the timetable I’ve checked and my goal to arrive at London Victoria before 3:00 PM, what time should I aim to get to St Pancras International?
4. In your experience, if I land at 11:20 AM (after an international flight), how long should I allow to reach Luton Parkway Rail Station, accounting for potential delays?

I apologize for any confusion—I’m just trying to clarify everything before my trip! Thank you for your help!

  1. Hello!

No need to worry, your English is clear and understandable! I’m happy to help with your questions about your journey from Luton Airport to London Victoria Coach Station.

    1. Walking to Luton Parkway Rail Station:
    2. It is indeed possible to walk to Luton Parkway Rail Station from Luton Airport, but it is quite a distance (around 2 miles or 3.2 km) and may take approximately 30-40 minutes. The Luton Dart is very convenient and will get you there quickly, but if you want to save money and don’t mind the walk, it’s an option!

    3. Cost of Luton Dart:

    4. If you don’t use the Luton Dart, you will not save money on your train ticket to St Pancras; however, the cost of the Dart is separate. If you choose not to take the Dart, you’ll need to pay for your train ticket separately, but you can save the fee for the Dart by walking.

    5. Time to Reach St Pancras:

    6. To be at London Victoria before 3:00 PM, I would recommend arriving at St Pancras International by 2:30 PM at the latest. The train journey from Luton to St Pancras takes about 30-40 minutes, so it would be wise to aim to catch a train no later than around 2:00 PM. Given this, leaving Luton Airport by 1:00 PM should allow you enough time, factoring in some buffer time for possible delays.

    7. Time from Arrival to Luton Parkway:

    8. After landing at 11:20 AM, allow for at least 30-60 minutes to clear customs, collect your luggage, and then make your way to Luton Parkway via the Dart or by walking. Considering potential delays, I’d estimate you could arrive at Luton Parkway around 12:30 PM to 12:45 PM if everything goes smoothly.

I hope this helps clarify your travel plans! Safe travels, and enjoy your time in London!
