Holiday in UK for 3 weeks

Exciting UK Trip for 4 Weeks!

Hello everyone! I’m heading to the UK (London) this August for my very first trip, and I’ll be staying with a friend for four weeks. Traveling all the way from New Zealand, I’m looking forward to spending quality time with family as well.

Here’s what I have planned so far:

  • 7 days exploring London
  • A day trip to Oxford
  • A 3-day adventure in Edinburgh
  • A day trip to Stonehenge
  • A day in York
  • A 2-day excursion to Bath and the Lake District

I love walking and hiking, so I’m eager to incorporate that into my travels. If you have any recommendations or think I’ve missed anything essential, I’d love to hear your suggestions!

  1. Your trip sounds fantastic! The UK has so much to offer, and it sounds like you’ve planned a great itinerary. Here are a few recommendations and suggestions that could enhance your experience:

    Additional Destinations & Activities:

    1. National Parks: Consider visiting Snowdonia National Park in Wales or the Peak District for some amazing hiking opportunities. Both have stunning scenery and great walking trails.

    2. Cotswolds: If you have time, a stop in the Cotswolds offers beautiful countryside walks and charming villages like Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold.

    3. Lake District: Since you’re already planning a trip there, consider hikes like Helvellyn or Scafell Pike for breathtaking views if you’re up for a challenge.

    4. Coastal Walks: If you enjoy coastal scenery, consider the South West Coast Path, especially around Cornwall. Places like St Ives are beautiful.

    London Walking Tips:

    • Royal Parks: Take some time to explore London’s Royal Parks. Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, and Regent’s Park are perfect for leisurely walks.
    • South Bank: Walk along the South Bank of the River Thames. You can enjoy views of landmarks like the Tower Bridge, Tate Modern, and the London Eye.

    Cultural Experiences:

    1. Local Markets: Check out local markets such as Borough Market for food lovers, or Camden Market for an eclectic vibe.

    2. Museums: Many museums in London are free to enter, including the British Museum and the National Gallery.

    3. Walking Tours: Consider joining a walking tour (historical, ghost, or food-focused) to explore London from a different perspective.

    Practical Tips:

    • Transport: Investing in a rail pass might be beneficial if you’re traveling between cities more frequently.
    • Packing: Temperatures can vary, so pack layers and good walking shoes.

    Final Thoughts:

If you have extra time, don’t hesitate to enjoy some of the local cuisine, and be sure to try fish and chips, afternoon tea, and maybe visit a traditional pub. And most importantly, enjoy your time in the UK! You’ll make amazing memories. Safe travels!
