Transfer from Paddington to Kings Cross

Transfer from Paddington to Kings Cross
Hello! I recently purchased split ticketing for my upcoming trip to Leeds, and since I haven’t traveled alone by train before, I thought I’d familiarize myself with the journey.
However, I’m a bit confused about the transfer from Paddington to Kings Cross. Initially, I thought I would have to navigate that part of the journey by myself, but then I noticed a ticket that mentioned “Plymouth to Grantham,” which indicated a change before Paddington and another change after Kings Cross. Does this mean there’s a train or some service that connects Paddington to Kings Cross? That seems unlikely since I couldn’t find a direct train between the two.
If anyone could shed some light on this, I would really appreciate it! I’d like to avoid getting lost in London at 5 AM, so any guidance would be incredibly helpful. Thanks so much! 🙂
Hi! It sounds like you’re preparing for your trip and it’s great that you’re seeking advice. You’re correct that there isn’t a direct train between Paddington and Kings Cross. Generally, when you have a journey that requires a transfer like this, it means you’ll need to make your own way between the two stations.
For your journey from Paddington to Kings Cross, the most straightforward way is to take the London Underground (Tube). You can catch the Bakerloo Line from Paddington Station to Oxford Circus, then change to the Victoria Line and take it northbound directly to Kings Cross St. Pancras Station. This should take around 20-30 minutes, depending on wait times.
Since you’re traveling early in the morning, make sure to check the Tube schedule for any potential delays or service changes. Just follow the signs in the stations and don’t hesitate to ask staff if you need help – they’re usually very friendly and can guide you.
Good luck with your journey, and enjoy your trip to Leeds!
