My partner and I are planning a trip to Snowdonia this April for a few days, where we hope to do some moderate hiking and explore the local towns and food scene.
We’ve been doing some research, but it seems like most visitors rely on cars. Neither of us has a driver’s license, so we’re curious about whether we can reach Snowdonia using public transportation and still have a great time. We assume there are bus or train options for getting to North Wales, but we’re concerned about the convenience of local public transport for getting around once we’re there.

Getting to Snowdonia: You can take a train from London to Bangor or Llandudno Junction. Trains run regularly from London Euston, and the journey takes about 3 to 4 hours. Once you’re in Bangor or Llandudno Junction, you can catch a local train or bus to get to different parts of Snowdonia.
Local Transportation: Once in Snowdonia, the local train services operated by Arriva Trains Wales connect you to popular spots. For example, you can use the train to get to places like Betws-y-Coed, which is a fantastic base for hiking and exploring. Buses also run routes around the area, including to hiking trails and towns, but check the schedules in advance as they might be limited.
