Travel recommendations for a solo repeat traveler in London.

Seeking Travel Tips for a Solo Traveler in London

I’ll be in London for 2-3 days in March and I’ve visited before, having checked off the usual tourist spots like Big Ben, Harry Potter Studios, Sky Garden, bar hopping, local food markets (Borough and Camden), a Premier League game, and some West End shows.

I’m looking for recommendations from locals on what else I could explore!

I’m all about experiences, adventure, and discovering new food and cocktails. Not so much into museums, history, or architecture.

Thanks in advance! 🙂

  1. It sounds like you have a great foundation of experiences in London already! Since you’re looking for more unique experiences that align with your interests in adventure, food, cocktails, and nature, here are some recommendations:

    1. Thames River Kayaking: Take a guided kayaking tour on the Thames. It’s a great way to see the city from a different perspective and gets your adrenaline pumping.

    2. Street Art Tour: Explore the vibrant street art scene in areas like Shoreditch. You can either join a guided tour or create your own as you wander. Be sure to stop by some of the cool cafés and bars around!

    3. Food Tours: Consider a themed food tour, such as a “hidden gems” tour or a specific cuisine (like Indian or Persian). The East End has some great options.

    4. Rooftop Bars: While you’ve enjoyed bar hopping, consider visiting some lesser-known rooftop bars like The Nest in Homerton or 120 Fenchurch Street for stunning views without the crowds.

    5. Visit Kew Gardens: Enjoy a more picturesque side of nature at Kew Gardens, featuring diverse plant life and peaceful landscapes. You can also explore the treetop walkway for a unique view.

    6. Street Markets: Venture out to markets beyond Borough and Camden—try Maltby Street Market for delicious food stalls or Brick Lane Market for an eclectic mix of vintage finds and international food.

    7. Escape Rooms or Adventure Activities: Test your wits at an escape room or try out something like axe throwing or VR gaming at places like Oxygen Freejumping or Flight Club.

    8. Experience Nature in the City: Explore Victoria Park or Greenwich Park, where you can enjoy lovely walks, and potentially catch stunning views of the city skyline.

    9. Craft Cocktail Bars: Seek out some creative cocktail bars, like The Alchemist or The Speakeasy in Soho, where you can enjoy innovative drinks in a vibrant atmosphere.

    10. Local Theater Shows: In addition to West End, look for independent theater productions in smaller venues for a different vibe. Check listings for what’s on at places like the Camden People’s Theatre or the Soho Theatre.

Enjoy your time in London! There’s always something new to discover, and it sounds like you have an adventurous spirit to explore it all!
