6 full days too few for London and Ireland?

Is 6 full days really enough for London and Ireland?
Happy Monday, everyone! If we arrive early Sunday morning and head back to EWR midday Saturday, what do you think about catching a flight to Dublin on Thursday morning for about 2.5 days there?
My wife has family roots in Ireland, and it would be her first visit, but I’m concerned that we might be short on time for both destinations. I’m not sure if four days in England will be sufficient. What do you all think?
Also, I’d love to hear any insights or experiences about whether it’s better to fly EWR > LHR > DUB > EWR, or to go to Ireland first and then return home from LHR.
Thanks so much for your help!
Happy Monday! It sounds like an exciting trip, but I totally understand your concerns about time constraints.
Six days can feel a bit rushed, especially with two amazing places like London and Ireland on your itinerary. Spending 4 full days in London will allow you to see some key sights, but it might not be enough to fully immerse yourselves in the city or take day trips outside of it. The 2.5 days in Dublin sounds great, especially since it’s important for your wife to connect with her heritage. However, it might feel a bit brief to fully explore and enjoy both cities.
If you can, you might consider extending your trip a little to give yourselves more breathing room, especially in Ireland. Even an extra day could make a difference.
As for flights, it depends on your priorities. If your main focus is to spend more time in Ireland, flying into EWR > DUB first might make sense, as you can start with your wife’s family roots and then head to London. Conversely, flying into LHR first allows you to adjust to the time zone in a bustling city and would likely be more convenient if you’re considering visiting other parts of England.
Ultimately, it depends on how you want to balance your time in both places. Whichever route you choose, just be sure to make the most of your time and enjoy the journey! Safe travels!
