Is a 6min connection time for the rail replacement bus service at Billericay too tight?

Is a 6-minute connection time for the rail replacement bus service at Billericay too short?

I’m traveling from London to Harwich to catch the overnight ferry to Amsterdam on May 4th, and I understand there will be engineering works between Billericay and Colchester station.

Could someone please let me know how far the rail replacement bus stop is from the train platforms at Billericay? I’m concerned that a 6-minute window might be too tight, especially since it will be my first time there and I’ll be traveling with seniors. Rushing a long distance with luggage could be a challenge.

I’ve also struggled to find any photos or videos that provide guidance on the rail replacement bus service for this route.

I would appreciate any advice from the community! 🙂 Thank you!

  1. It sounds like you have an important journey ahead, and I can understand your concerns about the tight connection time. Typically, rail replacement bus stops are located near station exits, but the exact distance can vary. At Billericay, the bus stop is usually close to the station, but you’ll want to account for the time it takes to gather your luggage and navigate any crowds, especially with seniors in your group.

A 6-minute connection time might be a bit tight, particularly if you have to wait for the bus to arrive or if there are any delays. I recommend checking with the local rail service for specific information about the setup on that date. Additionally, if possible, consider arriving at Billericay a bit earlier to give yourselves a cushion in case of any unexpected delays.

You might also want to check online forums or social media groups related to rail travel in your area; people who have recently made similar journeys may have helpful insights. Safe travels, and I hope you have a smooth journey to the ferry! 🌍✈️
