Two Week Trip to Scotland

Two-Week Adventure in Scotland

I’m excited to share that I’ll be heading to Scotland for two weeks with my boyfriend soon! Our current itinerary includes Edinburgh, Inverness, and the Isle of Skye, but we’re looking for suggestions on where to go after that for 2-3 days before returning to Edinburgh. We’re considering either Oban or Loch Lomond, but we’re open to ideas.

We both have a passion for hiking, exploring thrift and charity shops, trying unique food and drinks, and soaking up the atmosphere in cozy cafes or pubs, particularly where we can read and write. Since we’ll have a car, transportation won’t be an issue, and our budget allows for a bit of flexibility.

We’d love to find some beautiful hikes to see waterfalls, perhaps take a short ferry for a day trip, or even hunt for some lovely wool for our crafting projects. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

  1. That sounds like an amazing trip! Scotland has so much to offer, and you’ve got a great start to your itinerary.

After Skye, I think Oban would be a fantastic choice. It’s a charming coastal town known for its seafood, and you could also take a ferry from there to the Isle of Mull, which would allow you to explore more beautiful scenery, charming villages, and even take a hike to the stunning Fingal’s Cave. While in Oban, be sure to check out local thrift shops and cozy cafes.

Another option could be the area around Loch Lomond, which is absolutely beautiful and offers numerous hiking opportunities. The West Highland Way has sections that you could hike, and there are several waterfalls in the area, like the ones at Bracklinn Falls in Callander.

If you’re really keen on hiking and new experiences, consider heading to Glencoe, which is a short drive from Loch Lomond. The scenery there is breathtaking, and there are different hiking trails that vary in difficulty. It’s a perfect spot for a picturesque picnic, too.

For some unique food and drinks, don’t miss checking out local distilleries along the way. You can sample whisky and learn about the distillation process.

As for crafting supplies, you could look for local woolen mills in the area you’re visiting. places like The Woollen Mill in Edinburgh or if you find yourself in the Borders region, it has some great shops as well.

Overall, it sounds like you’re in for a lovely adventure, so enjoy your trip and take plenty of time to soak in the stunning landscapes!
