Celebrating Winter in London

Hello everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts on visiting London during winter and perhaps show some love to the locals as well!

I was fortunate enough to spend three weekends in London this winter, and each visit was more fantastic than the last.

Don’t let the winter weather put you off! I encountered cold, wind, and rain, but this past weekend brought delightfully mild 60°F temperatures and clear blue skies—it felt almost like spring and was truly enchanting.

Winter is a great time to benefit from reduced airfare and hotel rates, plus, you can enjoy the city with far fewer tourists. While there were still visitors in London, the crowds were nothing like what you experience during summer.

I managed to snag same-day theater tickets for Saturday night during each visit, and just yesterday, I spent half a day in Greenwich, which was absolutely wonderful.

While spring and fall are certainly appealing, they tend to attract larger crowds. It surprises me that more people don’t consider winter in London; the city is alive with energy, and there’s so much to experience regardless of the weather. The same could be said for other European destinations like Italy and France!

I can’t wait to return next winter.

Lastly, I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone who shared their fantastic tips with me along the way!

  1. What a lovely post! I completely agree with you—London in winter has a charm all its own. The festive decorations, fewer crowds, and the cozy atmosphere make it a unique time to explore the city. I also appreciate the affordable tickets for shows and the ability to enjoy attractions without the summer rush. Your experience in Greenwich sounds delightful; it’s such a beautiful area with rich history.

I think a lot of people underestimate the appeal of winter travel, especially in places like London. It’s a great time to discover hidden gems and soak in the local culture at a more leisurely pace. Plus, who doesn’t love a warm cup of tea or mulled wine after exploring the chilly streets? I’m glad you had such a wonderful trip, and I can’t wait to hear about your adventures next winter! Safe travels!
