Two Week Trip to Scotland

Two-Week Adventure in Scotland

I’m excited to share that I’ll be embarking on a two-week journey to Scotland with my boyfriend soon! Our current itinerary includes Edinburgh, Inverness, and the Isle of Skye. However, we have 2-3 days to fill before we return to Edinburgh, and we’re looking for suggestions on where to go next. We’ve considered places like Oban or Loch Lomond.

We’re both passionate about hiking, exploring thrift stores and charity shops, discovering unique food and drink, and enjoying some quiet time reading or writing in cozy cafes or pubs. We’ll have a car at our disposal, so getting around won’t be a problem, and our budget is flexible.

We’d love to find some great hiking trails with waterfalls, maybe take a short ferry for a day trip, or hunt for some beautiful wool for our crafting projects. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

  1. That sounds like an amazing trip! Scotland is full of stunning landscapes and unique experiences. Here are a few suggestions for your 2-3 extra days after Skye:

    1. Fort William & Glencoe: This area is perfect for hiking if you enjoy breathtaking scenery. You can hike up Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the UK, or explore the beautiful trails in Glencoe. The scenery here is dramatic and offers many photo opportunities. Fort William has some nice cafes for cozy reading and writing.

    2. Oban: Given your interests, Oban is a lovely choice! It’s known for its seafood, and you can take a ferry from Oban to explore the Isle of Mull or Iona for a day trip. The views from the ferry are stunning, and Mull has some great hiking trails. Oban also has some lovely charity shops and cafes where you can spend some relaxing time.

    3. Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park: If you decide to go to Loch Lomond, you can hike around the loch’s shores and enjoy stunning views. The area has several charming villages, like Luss and Balloch, where you can find cozy cafes and local shops. There are also great hiking trails in the Trossachs, such as the one to the stunning Bracklinn Falls.

    4. The Isle of Harris: If you’re willing to take a ferry from Skye, Harris has some of the most beautiful beaches, like Luskentyre, and great walking trails. You can also find local shops where you can buy Harris Tweed.

    5. Perthshire: This region is wonderful for hiking and has some lovely little towns to explore. Check out the Hermitage in Dunkeld for beautiful walks and waterfalls, or visit Pitlochry, which has various shops and cafes.

    6. Crafting Wool: Look for local wool shops in places like Inverness or Oban, where you can find beautiful Scottish wool for your projects.

No matter where you go, you’ll surely find lovely spots to relax and enjoy the Scottish culture. Have an amazing trip!
