Revised Scotland Itinerary Feedback – 2 Weeks

Hello Everyone!

After some back and forth, I’ve made adjustments to my Scotland itinerary and would love your feedback.

To give you some context, there are two of us traveling from Australia, and we’ll have a car for the trip (excluding our time in Edinburgh and Glasgow). We’ll be flying in and out of Edinburgh.

Here’s the plan:
– Edinburgh: 3 nights
– Cairngorms: 3 nights
– Skye: 3 nights
– Fort William: 1 night
– Oban: 2 nights
– Glasgow: 2 nights

Does this seem manageable and a good use of our time? Looking forward to your thoughts!

  1. Your Scotland itinerary looks well-planned and offers a nice balance between city exploration and the stunning natural landscapes of the Highlands and Islands. Here’s some feedback on your plans:

    Edinburgh (3 nights)

    • Great Start: Edinburgh is a fantastic city to begin your trip. Make sure to explore both the Old Town and New Town, and consider visiting landmarks such as Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, and Arthur’s Seat for great views.

    Cairngorms (3 nights)

    • Nature and Activities: This is a beautiful area with plenty to do, including hiking, wildlife watching, and possibly some outdoor sports. Make sure to visit places like Aviemore and the various lochs. Three nights provide a good amount of time to explore this national park.

    Skye (3 nights)

    • Iconic Island: Skye is breathtaking, and three nights should give you enough time to see highlights such as the Quiraing, Fairy Pools, and Old Man of Storr. Be prepared for some driving, but the scenery is worth it.

    Fort William (1 night)

    • Quick Stop: This is a convenient stopover, especially if you are interested in hiking Ben Nevis or just enjoying the town. One night might feel short for some, but depending on your plans, it should be manageable.

    Oban (2 nights)

    • Charming Coastal Town: Oban is known for its seafood and beautiful harbor. Enjoy a whisky distillery tour and consider taking a ferry to one of the nearby islands, such as Mull or Iona, if time permits.

    Glasgow (2 nights)

    • Urban Exploration: Glasgow has a vibrant culture, great museums, and fantastic music and food scenes. Make sure to check out the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and perhaps visit the Riverside Museum.

    Overall Thoughts

    • Driving Considerations: Scotland’s roads can be winding and take longer to navigate than you might expect, especially in rural areas. Be sure to factor in time for your drives and stops along the way.
    • Flexibility: Having a car will allow you to explore off-the-beaten-path locations, so keep your itinerary a bit flexible for spontaneous discoveries along the way!
    • Local Weather: Keep in mind the weather can change quickly in Scotland, so be prepared for all conditions.

In summary, your itinerary seems well-balanced and feasible! Enjoy your trip and the amazing landscapes Scotland has to offer!
