US > Canada > Uk Question

US to Canada to UK Travel Inquiry

Am I overthinking this? We’re Americans traveling to a Canadian airport before flying to the UK, and we’ll do the same on our way back. I’ve completed the UK ETA form, and we all have our passports, but is there anything else I need to consider traveling to and from the UK via Canada as a US citizen? I want to make sure I have everything in order to avoid any travel delays.

  1. It sounds like you’ve got a good handle on the basics of your trip! Since you already have your UK ETA and passports in order, you’re off to a great start. Just a few additional points to keep in mind:

    1. Canada Entry Requirements: Ensure that you check Canada’s entry requirements for US citizens. Typically, you won’t need a visa, but you’ll want to make sure you have the necessary documents ready when you arrive.

    2. Transit through Canada: Since you’re flying from a Canadian airport to the UK, ensure that your flight arrangements comply with Canadian transit policies. Sometimes additional documentation or checks may be needed if you’re not just passing through.

    3. Return to the US: Upon returning, remember that you will need to go through US Customs and Border Protection. Be prepared to show your passport and answer any questions regarding your travels.

    4. COVID-19 Considerations: Keep in mind any ongoing travel restrictions or health requirements related to COVID-19 for both Canada and the UK. Regulations can change, so check the official government websites.

    5. Travel Insurance: It may be a good idea to purchase travel insurance that covers trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and other unexpected events.

If you take care of these points, you should be in good shape for your travels. Happy travels!
