Visitor in Transit visa question

Visitor in Transit Visa Inquiry
Hi everyone,
My girlfriend and I are gearing up for a trip to Europe this summer, and as big Manchester United fans, we want to spend a short time in Manchester (no more than 48 hours).
My girlfriend will need to obtain a visa, while I just need to apply for an ETA. We’re curious if all the criteria listed in the screenshot above need to be fully met to qualify for the Visitor in Transit visa, or if staying for less than 48 hours means we should be okay? (We’re not actually passing through the UK for a connecting flight.)
Thanks for your help!
Hey there!
It sounds like you have an exciting trip planned! Regarding your question about the Visitor in Transit visa, the key factor is that this type of visa is specifically for individuals who are transiting through the UK on their way to another destination. Since you and your girlfriend are planning to stay in Manchester for less than 48 hours and you’re not passing through the UK for a connecting flight, you won’t qualify for the Visitor in Transit visa.
Instead, your girlfriend will need to apply for a standard Visitor visa, as you will both be entering the UK for tourism purposes. When applying for the Visitor visa, she will need to meet the relevant criteria outlined by the UK Home Office.
Make sure to gather all necessary documents, including proof of travel plans, accommodation, and evidence of financial means to support your stay. It’s a good idea to apply well in advance of your trip to account for any processing times.
Enjoy your time in Manchester and have a great summer trip! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
