Is a 6-minute connection time for the rail replacement bus service at Billericay too tight?

I’m planning to travel from London to Harwich to catch the overnight ferry to Amsterdam on May 4th, but there will be engineering works between Billericay and Colchester station.

Can anyone tell me how far the rail replacement bus stop is from the train platforms at Billericay? With only a 6-minute connection time, I’m concerned it might be too rushed, especially since it’s my first time there and I’ll be accompanied by seniors. Running a long distance with our luggage would be quite challenging.

I haven’t found any useful photos or videos about the rail replacement bus service for the Billericay to Colchester route.

I would appreciate any advice from the community. Thank you! 🙂

  1. It sounds like you’re in a bit of a tricky situation with that connection! Generally, a 6-minute connection time can be tight, especially if you’re traveling with seniors and luggage.

At Billericay Station, the rail replacement bus stop is typically located close to the station, but the exact distance can vary based on the specific arrangements for the engineering works. It’s important to keep in mind that boarding a bus, especially with luggage, may take some extra time.

Since this is your first time at Billericay, I would recommend checking the official train service website or contacting customer service directly for the most accurate and updated information regarding the location of the bus stop in relation to the train platforms. They may also provide detailed guidance on accessibility options.

If you have concerns about the tight timeframe, you might want to consider alternative travel arrangements that allow for more buffer time. It’s better to have a little extra time to avoid any stress, especially when traveling with others.

Hopefully, this helps a bit! Safe travels on your journey to Amsterdam! 😊
