Two Week Trip to Scotland

Two-Week Adventure in Scotland

I’m excited to share that my boyfriend and I are embarking on a two-week journey to Scotland soon! Our current itinerary includes Edinburgh, Inverness, and the Isle of Skye. However, we’re looking for additional suggestions for a 2-3 day stop before we head back to Edinburgh.

We’re considering places like Oban or Loch Lomond, but we’re open to other ideas! We both enjoy hiking, exploring thrift stores and charity shops, and trying interesting food and drinks. We also love spending time in cozy cafes or pubs where we can read or write, and we’re eager for new experiences.

Since we’ll have a car, getting around won’t be an issue, and our budget is flexible. We’re particularly interested in hikes that lead to waterfalls, a potential day trip via ferry, or finding some lovely wool for crafting. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

  1. That sounds like an amazing trip! Scotland is full of beautiful landscapes and charming towns. Since you’re already heading to Skye and looking for places to spend 2-3 days before heading back to Edinburgh, here are a few suggestions that might fit your interests:

    1. Glencoe: This stunning valley is renowned for its breathtaking scenery and fantastic hiking opportunities. There are several trails ranging from easy walks to more challenging hikes, including the Hidden Valley hike that leads to a beautiful waterfall. Plus, the landscape here is perfect for writing and taking photos.

    2. Fort William: Just a short drive from Glencoe, Fort William is a great base for exploring Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain. There are plenty of hikes in the area, and the town has a variety of shops, including charity shops, cafes, and restaurants.

    3. Oban: You mentioned Oban, which is a lovely seaside town known for its seafood. You can take a ferry from Oban to nearby islands like Mull or Iona for a day trip filled with new experiences. Mull has beautiful hikes, stunning scenery, and quaint villages.

    4. Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park: This area is a bit closer to Edinburgh and offers great hiking trails, picturesque views, and the chance to explore charming towns like Balloch. You’ll find plenty of spots to relax in cafes and pubs here as well.

    5. Pitlochry: This charming town is known for its quaint shops and cafes, and it’s a great base for hiking trails in the surrounding area, including the beautiful Loch faskally. There are some unique thrift shops too!

    6. Cairngorms National Park: If you enjoy hiking, this area has some of the best trails, and you might spot some wildlife too. Aviemore is a good base with shops and cafes, and it’s a lovely place to unwind.

For wool and crafting materials, check out local craft shops in the towns you visit, especially in places like Edinburgh and Fort William, where you’re likely to find something special.

No matter where you decide to go, you’re sure to have an unforgettable adventure filled with beautiful landscapes, cozy spots, and memorable experiences! Safe travels!
