Eating and drinking on public transport can be a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, it’s practical—many people rely on public transport for their daily commutes, and sometimes it’s just not feasible to wait until you get to your destination to have a snack or finish your coffee. It can also make longer journeys more comfortable, especially for those with busy schedules.
On the flip side, it can be quite unpleasant for other passengers. The smells from food, the potential for spills, and the noise of wrappers can create an uncomfortable environment. It can also lead to hygiene issues if people don’t clean up after themselves.
Personally, I think it’s acceptable to eat or drink on public transport as long as it’s done considerately. For example, eating something that doesn’t have a strong smell or is easy to consume without making a mess tends to be more acceptable. Also, drinking from a spill-proof container can help minimize any issues.
Ultimately, it comes down to being respectful of the shared space and the comfort of others. Would love to hear more opinions on this!
